WebSep 15, 2024 · I bet you wouldn’t notice any difference between ext4 and btrfs. The golden rule is Never Touch a Running System. If it works, it works! ext4 is stable since a long time, with Btrfs you risk being affected by a bug or some inconvenience. Also, forget about the file system conversion. WebBtrfs was never intended to be faster than ext4. Its best side is features. And robustness. I think it is a very good idea to use Btrfs as root filesystem, but only if you use EFI. If booting the old way, you should better creater a separate /boot partition on EXT4.
