WebThe Million Orchid Project Laboratory at Fairchild uses special technology to germinate orchid seeds and nurture seedlings until they are ready to grow outdoors. Most of our native orchids grow on trees, where they live as epiphytes (air plants), obtaining water and nutrients from the air and rain. WebNative orchids used to be common in Broward County. Habitat loss and poaching greatly damaged the native populations. Now we are partnering with Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden’s Million Orchid Project and Broward County Extension office to bring them back. Join us to restore native orchids in your area!
